Our AGM and European plenary in Milan saw us welcome new Chair Alan Law, launch our virtualization workstream, and create a new membership class to encourage startups and innovators into the forum.

Deployment of small cells in rural and remote locations – on oil rigs, for disaster recovery, for tactical applications – to connect the unconnected is a huge opportunity for carriers. This important release of documents shows how it’s been done and how best to do it.
Small cells pass 10 million!
In March our latest Market Status report, showed that more than ten million small cells had now been shipped around the globe. More importantly, the report highlighted significant growth for all types of deployment.

Our popular annual workshop saw lively debate from industry analysts on Carrier Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Calling and LAA, heralding a major new workstream for Small Cell Forum, one in which we are playing an important leadership role.
Operators help shape our priorities
When the Forum met in Dallas, we set our priorities to drive the HetNet agenda, in line with operator needs. We also announced the establishment of regional operator groups.

Our new MWC stand was host to operators, vendors and industry evangelists, sharing examples of exciting innovations in small cell use.
Operators & Vendors discuss technology breakthroughs
Members gathered at our Singapore plenary where they shared best practice and deployment stories in our state of the market workshop, launched our Asian operator group and finalised critical aspects of the virtualization work.
SCF Awards: Industry Recognition of Excellence
The entries this year reflected a broadening, healthy, global market for the commercial use of small cells.
Expanded remit for Small Cell Forum
We announced in June that we would expand our remit to reflect the maturing market. We continue to drive the wide-scale adoption of small cells but also to accelerate the delivery of integrated HetNets through our work on virtualization, SON, M2M, license exempt and Wi-Fi integration.
