At Small Cells Asia, SCF held another in our series of successful workshops to showcase best practice deployment stories, and to set out the roadmap for this year. This was very well attended, with participants gaining the latest insights into the Forum’s ambitious program of work and the vital role of small cells in carriers’ plans to roll out HetNets and plan for virtualization and 5G.
The workshop featured innovative case studies of small cell deployment from industry pioneers such as Nokia, SoftBank, Parallel Wireless, Commscope and iBwave. You can access all the presentations here »
Among the many deployment stories which were shared in the workshop, one that stood out came from Malaysia’s M1, which has worked with Parallel Wireless to trial small cells on buses. These innovative cases highlight how small cells are becoming sufficiently flexible to be deployed almost anywhere connectivity is needed, but in Asia as elsewhere, the enterprise is the major growth driver in 2016 – one of the operators working in this area is Softbank of Japan, which shared its experiences of deploying small cells to address major macro network challenges for businesses.
