Kevin Kleinsmith, Director of Engineering
Kevin Kleinsmith started his professional career in the US Air Force in 1988, where he was a veteran of Operation Just Cause and Desert Storm, where he worked on both Fire Control system for AC-130 Gunships and with various advanced Spread Spectrum Satellite and Wideband communication systems. After eight years within Air Force, Kevin started his Wireless career in 1995 with Sprint Telecommunications Venture (now Sprint PCS) in CDMA RF Design for the St Louis MTA. In the time since, his career progressed with him working in several senior management positions for various other industry leading companies such as PrimeCo PCS, MetroPCS, T-Mobile and most recently Microsoft.
Kevin joined Union Wireless in 2009 as Director of Engineering, where he leads the technical design, deployment and performance of a GSM/UMTS and LTE network that operates over 200,000 square miles of the Rocky Mountains. His team of 29 people perform the RF design, leasing, zoning, architecture, construction, network design, fiber deployment, and ongoing optimization.
Kevin graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Technical Management, Summa Cum Laude, from DeVry University in 2000 and a Master’s of Science from Keller Graduate School of Business in Network and Communications Management in 2005. Kevin has won many awards and citations, most recently the 2012 Industry Innovation Award from the Competitive Cellular Association (CCA).
