Small cell and non-terrestrial networks

SCF262

Small Cell Forum (SCF) has undertaken a work item to explore the unexpected, yet significant, intersections between small cells (SCs) and small cell networks (SCNs) and non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), particularly satellite networks. While initially, the relevance of SCs and SCNs, known for their small geographical coverage, to NTNs, which offer vast area coverage, may not be immediately apparent, SCF observes that there are crucial areas of synergy from product and network sharing perspectives. This paper delves into these intersections, outlining how SCF’s expertise can contribute to the advancement of NTNs.
